The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) said that more than 98% of labour disputes filed in the first half of 2026 ended through friendly settlements.
The cases came from private sector employees and domestic workers across the UAE between January and June. The ministry handled these complaints before they reached the courts.
According to data released, 185,793 labour disputes were solved through its dispute resolution system. Only 2,481 cases, representing 1.4 per cent of the total, were referred to the judiciary for further action.
Officials said the system gives both workers and employers a fair chance to settle issues quickly. The approach saves time, cuts legal costs, and helps both sides move forward without a long court process.

MoHRE said the high settlement rate shows that more people trust its complaint system. The ministry uses legal experts and digital services to review each case and guide both sides toward an agreement.
Since 2024, MoHRE has had the power to disburse the amount in labour disputes involving claims of up to AED 50,000, which became a significant reason for swift solving of disputes without adding pressure on courts and other state resources.
Ahmed Al Qara, Director of the Labour Relations Department at MoHRE, emphasised on the proactive approach, and said, “The Ministry continues to enhance the efficiency of its labour dispute resolution system through an integrated approach based on proactive solutions and effective resolution mechanisms that protect the rights of all parties to the employment relationship.”
“These efforts support the UAE’s strategic vision of building a flexible and balanced labour market founded on fairness and efficiency, which in turn helps foster a stable working environment that enhances the country’s global competitiveness,” Al Qara further added.
Officials said the process protects the rights of workers and employers alike. It gives both sides a chance to present their views before a decision is made. The ministry added that quick settlements help create a stable work environment and build confidence in the country's labour system.
The UAE has introduced several labour reforms in recent years to make the workplace fairer and easier to navigate. MoHRE has expanded its online services and complaint channels so workers can seek help without unnecessary delays. The ministry has even increased awareness programmes in different languages to reach more people.
