Elon Musk’s social media platform X experienced a significant outage, leaving thousands of users unable to access key features. Increased reports of disruptions came as users reported problems logging in, timeline issues, and trouble accessing their content from both the mobile and web versions.
The disruption impacted users globally. This raised concerns about the stability of the social media site. Users even checked other sites to confirm the disruption.
As reported by the online outage monitoring platform, at the time of reporting, Downdetector showed more than 3,000 outage reports in the US. In India, around 50 outage reports were recorded.
According to NDTV Profit, "The problems extended beyond simple loading delays. Several users reported being unable to refresh feeds, publish posts, or view notifications. Others encountered error messages while attempting to log in or access content. The disruption affected both casual users and businesses that rely on X for communication, customer engagement, and real-time updates.”
An X user even posted, one user wrote, “searching not working, and comments and quote tweets are not showing. ” Another user posted, “I'm tired, Elon. I'm so tired. Just delete the website.” However, X has not provided any further information concerning the causes of the most recent service disruption. The cause of the disruption remains unclear.
Similar interruptions have been reported on the platform in recent years. Previous outages were linked to data center and backend system issues. which caused a temporary global disruption of services.
This interruption underscores the difficulties of operating large social media networks. Ever since Elon Musk took over ownership of the platform, there have been significant operational and technological shifts aimed at improving efficiency and reducing costs.
Although service restoration is currently underway, users will be eagerly awaiting updates on when normal services will resume. The current disruption is yet another example of the dependence that people, organizations, and firms have on social media platforms.
