YouTube is bringing custom feeds for users. The latest update introduced the feature to adjust video recommendations more easily than ever. It is designed to help viewers create a cleaner and more personal homepage feed.
For years, many users complained about random videos, repeated topics, or unwanted recommendations after watching only one clip outside their normal interests. The new system gives users more direct control over what the platform recommends, rather than relying solely on automatic suggestions.
The latest YouTube feature allows users to manage recommendation topics directly from the homepage. It will use Gemini to customize the feed for users. In the official announcement, the YouTube authority has revealed, “Simply enter a custom prompt… and we’ll create a new, constantly refreshing feed that you can quickly jump into at any time.”
Initially, YouTube announced this feature in November 2025 and said it was in development stage. Finally, the update is here. With this feature, users don’t need to depend on the algorithm. Instead, they can simply type what they want to see. They can give prompts like, “give me something different beyond my usual feed,” or something similar to what they want in their feed. The system also studies watch history, skipped videos, and likes to improve future suggestions.
The goal is simple: make recommendations feel more useful and less random. Users can also quickly remove unwanted content from their feed. This may help people avoid situations where an accidental video changes their homepage recommendations for days. YouTube appears to be giving viewers more influence over the algorithm instead of letting AI make every decision alone.
The new YouTube control feature will reduce the popularity of channels that rely on clickbait content. For years, lots of creators racked up millions of views through exaggerated titles, shocking thumbnails, or misleading topics.
Now, viewers have more authority to remove that content. If people keep hiding specific types of videos, channels built mainly around clickbait could end up losing reach. At the same time, creators who produce well-researched, original content might receive more targeted recommendations.

The latest YouTube update also shows how strongly TikTok has influenced modern video platforms. One of the major reasons behind TikTok’s popularity includes its recommendation system, which adapts quickly to user behavior. Videos change fast depending on what users watch, skip, or replay.
YouTube now seems to be moving closer to that approach by making its recommendation system more flexible and personal. As competition between video apps continues to grow, recommendation systems may become one of the biggest reasons users stay loyal to a platform.
