New leaks reveal a ‘confirmed’ color for Apple’s rumored iPhone Ultra, triggering fresh speculation. The image going viral on social media platforms features a sleek, light-colored finish. The confirmation in the name seems quite fishy. The reasoning is that the image was neither leaked nor released by Apple nor its partners.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, “Apple plans to stay away from fun colors and stick to more traditional space gray/black and silver/white finishes. Such an approach would be similar to the iPhone X, which launched in just two colors – Silver and Space Gray – when it debuted in November 2017.”
Supply chain experts suggest that Apple might confine the Ultra to a smaller palette of less conspicuous colors. White, silver, and shades of blue have repeatedly been cited. This is in line with how Apple usually introduces a new design form factor. Apple typically begins with restrained hues and adds more varieties of colors at a later stage. The iPhone Ultra could become Apple’s first-ever foldable phone.
According to the rumors, the foldable iPhones will occupy a market position superior to the tech giant's Pro range. Judging by industry analysts' estimations, the pricing will fall well outside the current range of flagships. This explains the conservative choice of colors made by the manufacturer.
Apple seems to target early adopters and premium customers. They usually favor a restrained design over a bright and expressive one. However, when it comes to color or material, leaks do not help much at all. Many of these leaks come from case makers and, therefore, cannot be fully trusted. In addition, the information provided is often incomplete.
For now, the iPhone Ultra exists only as a rumor. Nothing has been confirmed by Apple regarding the development or the release date of the smartphone. Provided that everything goes according to plan, more details should be revealed in the near future.
