Apple rolled out iOS 27, its biggest iPhone software update of 2026. The update is now available in India for iPhone 11 and newer models, with a redesigned Siri AI leading the changes.
The update also brings changes to Camera, Photos, Shortcuts and Safari. Apple added several practical tools that aim to make everyday iPhone use simpler.
The biggest change is Siri AI. The assistant can now understand follow-up questions and use information stored on the iPhone. It can search emails, messages, photos, files, notes and calendar entries to answer requests. Siri can also understand what is shown on the screen. It can find specific files, add details to contacts and turn information from a recipe into a shopping list. It can also create home automations from a spoken request.
Apple also added writing tools to Siri. Users can draft or rewrite text inside supported fields. Siri can adjust the tone of a message and provide grammar suggestions. Several AI features have hardware limits. Siri AI requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer models, along with the iPhone Air and iPhone Duo. Apple says more Siri languages will arrive in October.
The Camera app can now use Siri to read information from items such as nutrition labels and event schedules. It can also analyse restaurant bills and calculate individual shares. This feature requires Apple Cash, so it is not currently useful for Indian users. The Shortcuts app can create automations from plain-language instructions. Photos gets new editing tools that can extend an image beyond its original frame. Safari can also alert users when a product's price drops or when an item comes back in stock.
Apple added custom equalizer controls for supported AirPods. Users can also set alarm volume separately from the ringer volume. The update also brings stronger parental controls. Parents can approve new websites, manage app access and set daily limits for selected categories. iOS 27 is compatible with iPhone 11 and newer models, including the second-generation iPhone SE. Apple says some performance improvements, such as faster app launches, apply across supported iPhones.
