Apple Watch SE 3 suddenly became unavailable across Apple’s online stores in the US and several other markets, just hours before the company’s ‘Surprise and Shine’ event. The unexpected stock change sparked speculation that Apple could be preparing a surprise announcement involving the affordable smartwatch.

The unavailability reportedly affects nearly all SE 3 configurations, with customers unable to select either delivery or Apple Store pickup. The timing has made the situation particularly interesting, as Apple is expected to unveil new iPhones and Apple Watch models during its event. However, Apple has not announced that the SE 3 is being discontinued.

Why an Apple Watch SE 4 Would be a Surprise

An SE 4 launch would be unusual based on Apple’s previous release pattern. The first Apple Watch SE arrived in 2020, followed by the SE 2 in 2022. Apple then introduced the current SE 3 in September 2025.

This means Apple has never refreshed the SE line in consecutive years. Until the latest availability issue, reports had largely expected the SE 3 to remain in Apple’s lineup for another year, while attention around the September event focused on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4.

India Still Lists Apple Watch SE 3

The situation also differs by market. While the SE 3 has reportedly disappeared from Apple’s online stores in several countries, Apple continues to list the model in India. Apple Watch SE 3 is currently listed at a starting price of Rs. 25,900 in India. Multiple configurations, including GPS and GPS + Cellular variants, remain available on Apple’s Indian website.

This suggests the reported stock issue should not yet be treated as evidence of a worldwide discontinuation.

The company’s online store has also been taken offline ahead of the event, following its usual practice before major product announcements. For now, the SE 3’s disappearance could simply be a temporary inventory or online-store issue. However, if Apple unveils an SE 4, it would represent an unexpected change to the company’s usual two-to-three-year refresh cycle. Until Apple makes an announcement, buyers should treat the SE 4 possibility as speculation rather than confirmed news.
