Samsung unveiled its strongest hint yet about the launch of its next-generation foldable smartphones. The tech giant has teased its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, with several reports pointing to July 22, 2026, as the official unveiling date for the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8.
Samsung has not confirmed the product names. However, recent teasers, certification filings, and supply-chain leaks all align with the same launch timeline.
Samsung is expected to debut three new foldable devices at this year’s launch event. The trio would feature the following:
The Galaxy Z Fold8
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
The Galaxy Z Flip8
Samsung is also expected to launch another version of its foldable phone. This model is expected to feature a larger cover display than the regular Fold series. The wider foldable is believed to have the same design as the Fold but with upgraded hardware.
The biggest change this year may not be seen in better-performing processors or improved cameras but in the newly introduced form factor. According to reports, the new Samsung foldable will come with a more tablet-like aspect ratio, making typing and multitasking more convenient than ever before compared to previous models. Meanwhile, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will continue to offer Samsung’s foldable technology with flagship specifications.
Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip8 will also receive minor updates instead of a complete redesign. The clamshell foldable will receive internal upgrades, AI enhancements, and new color options while keeping its compact design intact. Storage choices might range up to 512GB.
Apart from this, Samsung is likely to focus on AI-enabled Galaxy Experiences in its foldable smartphone lineup. Moreover, the next generation of Galaxy watches and other AI devices might also be showcased at the event. If the launch timeline remains unchanged, the devices are expected to reach stores shortly after the announcement, likely in early August.
