Netflix introduced a major change to its account management system, requiring every adult profile on the platform to have a unique email address. The new rule began rolling out globally on June 15, 2026, and also applies to users in the UAE.
The move marks a shift from Netflix's earlier model, where multiple profiles under one account shared the primary account holder's login credentials. With the latest update, each non-child profile must now be linked to a separate email address.
According to the new update, all adult profiles are required to associate themselves with a unique email address that is not yet associated with another Netflix profile/account. Once associated, the user will be able to log in individually by entering the unique email address together with a one-time validation code. Netflix further noted that child profiles are excluded from this process.
UAE-based users need to provide a unique email address for each adult profile on their Netflix account once they receive a notification from Netflix.
Netflix recommends that users choose a unique email address that has not been used with another Netflix account/profile before. If you are receiving any promotional emails, you can unsubscribe through your account settings.
The OTT giant claims that the update will provide enhanced account security and make managing profiles easier. Personalized emails will help to access individual profiles without relying on the main account owner. According to Netflix, the update is also supposed to make the process of account recovery easier, as well as offer more personalized content and personalized settings.
The new requirements do not affect the current household sharing rules of Netflix. People will be able to access different profiles within one Netflix Household, provided they follow the guidelines set by Netflix regarding account sharing.
The update will not add any new limitations for household accounts aside from Netflix's current policy. Moreover, the company claims that Netflix will not require enabling MFA for all its subscribers from July 2026.
