Microsoft is marking Xbox’s 25th anniversary with free digital rewards, community-created designs and curated Game Pass collections. However, the free game download is not available for everyone. The free Halo: Campaign Evolved download is bundled with the limited-edition Xbox Series X25 console.
Xbox is celebrating its anniversary ahead of the platform’s official 25th birthday on November 15, 2026. Players who sign in to their Xbox account on a console, PC or the Xbox mobile app can receive an Xbox 25th Anniversary profile badge. Microsoft says the badge will remain available through the end of 2026.
The tech giant also released a collection of free gamerpics, profile backgrounds and a dynamic Xbox console theme. The designs were created with Xbox community creators Klobrille and Ben Kenobi. Players can apply them through Xbox profile and personalisation settings.
Microsoft is also using Game Pass to revisit Xbox’s gaming history. Specially tailored collections will feature titles of various Xbox eras, including the original one up until Xbox Series X|S.
The biggest game-related offer is tied to the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition. Every console in the anniversary collection includes a full-game download of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Microsoft describes the title as a modernised remake of the original Halo campaign.
The translucent OG Green console carries unique numbering and comes with 1TB of storage. It is priced at $899.99 in the US and is scheduled to launch on November 13, 2026. These collections are part of the broader anniversary celebration. The aim is to give subscribers an easier way to revisit some of Xbox’s biggest franchises.
